Subject: RE: Exact Emerge with seed firmers??

West Central MN
First year with a DB66 exactemerge, installed low stick Kenton’s before heading to field based on a friends advice he has same planter ran 2 years without them and this is his third or Fourth year with them. They do a really good job of keeping seed firmly in bottom of trench. Only thing I don’t like is how much they move the closing wheels back which leaves seed tench open when rounding field edges. Usually get out at least once every couple hrs or when switching fields to check seed depth, I had very consistent depth on 8000 acres rarely would see a seed laying on top. Full conventional tillage heavy black to irrigated sand ground. 7.2-10mph. 120-220lbs margin. Don’t have any spoke gauges wheels but judging on how the row cleaners throw trash it would be throwing it right into gauge wheel if I did have them, maybe not an issue on 30in rows, seems to me in drier conditions that would add to the issue of not keeping trench open.
