If you dig an 8’ starter hole it’s going to take more than a 5 gallon bucket to cover the pipe. If you dig behind the main and only a couple feet in front of it would take less, but doubt you could do that with a 5 gallon bucket.


Only digging 6' holes normally and 3" pipe so you mileage may very, but 8's or as some call pea gravel would be preferred as they will fit the ribs in the pipe. 57's could work but would not support the pipe as well.
