Subject: Re: ? about a grain bin that is starting to buckle

Leesburg, Ohio
We had a 30' do the same thing a few years back, except it had beans in it. We had put about two rings of wet (17%) beans in, and had the fans on, but weather was rainy for a couple weeks. When we started harvesting again, the beans we put on top were really dry. We think the wet beans in the bottom shrunk when the weather got better, and the dry beans on top didin't, and pulled the bin down. Had to replace one ring all the way around. Added stiffeners then. No more problems since.

I wonder if you have a full drying floor if it has collapsed?

When we discovered our problem, we just pulled a load or two out of the middle, and kept an eye on it until we emptied it later in the summer.
