Galahad, Alberta | I've got an 1184, and can answer some of your questions.
I run around 1800, give or take. Depends on what nozzles I'm using, what speed, and what pressure I want to have.
I purge my booms one section at a time. Start with one end, this section takes the longest as I have to purge the big hose to the manifold, then do the other 4. Helps to have a white chemical that I can watch the colour change as the water leaves and the chem arrives. I figure 15 gal if I have someone to watch.
I don't start the agitation until I have enough water in the tank to cover the agitation (sparge) pipe, about 250 gal. Keeps the foaming down, esp. with Liberty. I then shut the agitation off when I'm spraying and get down to 250 gal left.
I always try to have booms in the cradle to fold tips in. The boom seems to have too much twist in it otherwise.
Keep the slides well greased and you can move axles in and out as you like, just have forward speed.
I don't even turn on the center section. It doesn't change much because it's right behind the wheels.
I was told to have the green valve open 6 full turns and adjust the yellow valve at 1 o'clock for 10 gal and about 2 o'clock for 5 gal. It has to do with back pressure for the hydro pump to respond properly to changing demands. You also need to have the min PWM set correctly in the computer, and that varies for each spraying scenario (speed, rate)
The red valve (bypass) should be closed for spraying. You should have two manuals, one for the chassis and one for the liquid system. Liquid manual explains filling well.
Hope this helps.
