WCMO-SWMO Area | Meanwhile,250 miles to the east of you we cant buy a rain for the second year in a row...You would break a knee cap if you fell in a wheat field...We had fantastic wheat this year with everyone reporting yields in the low 60's and on up to over 100 bushels per acre..The double crop beans need rain to get some of them up..If it rains this week there may be some corn to harvest and if it doesnt,it will be silage.
I feel for you as we went thru terrible wheat harvests in 1967 and 1981..Some never finished until late August in 1967 and cut around large weed patches..Some fields were abandoned which really hurt as there was no crop insurance...It rained all summer in 1967 and never got over 90 degrees...In 1981 it was dry until mid May and then in the next 6 weeks we got 24 inches of rain...The wheat started out making 60 bu per acre and 7 weeks later when we finished up it was down to 20 bu per acre as it all shattered out...It didnt get weedy like it did in 1967..Hopefully things will get better for you.
