northeast ohio | +1. We hang a hoop on the drill for checking populations. Used a sharpie marker and wrote the plant count and population conversion chart info around the inside of the ring. I just throw it to get a random sample of 3-5 spots to average. Replanted a few acres two weeks ago that looked like that. Ran the drill at an angle to previous planting when possible. Left a couple patches that averaged 50-60k as a comparison
Photo is of planting DC soybeans after barley this past weekend in NE Ohio. This is our experimental field for 2023. Aerial seeded the barley into pre-leaf drop soybeans in Sept 2022 and injected manure in early December. March photo at green up. No other fertilizer or fungicide. Made 100+bu plus 4.5 3x3x8 bales of straw per acre. (BIL talked to our custom combine operator, he said areas of field were running 160+)
