Subject: RE: Spot spraying pasture for buckbrush (coralberry)

hello
The question i've been scratching my head on is, I'm thinking about spraying all the pastures with a drone using tordon. From what i read, you can use tordon by air.
from I understand, the dones will fly around and miss thigs....most of the pastures are open, but there are some fairly good draws, and some pretty steep hills.
The local airplane charges $9 and then adds to the cost of the herbicide....so by the time you get done close to $18 an acre, while the tordon only costs me about $4 or less an acre. I used to spray with tractor and sprayer, but constantly running after water......with this, put a 300 gallon tank in the back of the pu, that's 150 acres !!!
from what i understand, need to buy a generator to charge batterys. Just have to run the numbers on the cost. I hear people talk of the cost, but seems I find places that are cheaper.
I'm researching if I can use it on my other crops, the question is if the herbicide is listed ok to put on by air.....example, I would like to use lumex/lexar on my milo in the spring before planting....that's a no-no according to the label, but, if you buy dual, and attrex atrizine, and so can calisto (for corn and sugar cane at the moment) they can be applied by air !!
for the beans, we can put on the valor and burn down (roundup) by air, and come in later with roundup and 24d depending on what is planted.

I'm still playing with the numbers, and I would like to see a good study done, if they are effective in the above situation, sorry, I want good research, not some companys pr reports.

I could see in the future, if these units come down in price, and if the labels can be adjusted, and if the herbicides will be effective, the days of the airplane and coop putting on herbicides, might be limited. you'll hire a teenager to run the drones, but you'll need to be there, to supply the common sense.
