I cam honestly say I have never heard anyone say shallower seeded crops yield better.......seems pretty far fetched to me
I spent most of my career in northern climes. Deeper planting here usually results in delayed emergence, more seedling disease (even with seed treatments) and later maturity, which all translate to lower yields. If you have warm soils and a long season, deeper planting can work in your favor, but remember that nature doesn't plant seeds at all. They are made to germinate on the surface. |
