central mn | Couple questions on if its worth it for me to raise silage. Have around 60 cows and currently feed them hay, grass, and stalks with a supplement. Feed with a bale processor and seems to work out good. Have a good line of hay equipment and no silage equipment. We raise corn for raising steers and heifers, we pick it as cob corn and they do really well on this and i 'm happy with the results. Have neighbors telling me to raise silage and some saying not to. Some say it will save hay, and some say silage costs to much to feed to cows. Who is right? How much silage could i feed without having to worry bout the cows getting to fat and having calving problems. Our cows do really well how we feed them now, just looking for the most cost effective way to do it. Any advice u guys have is appriciated. | |
