Subject: RE: Raven 661 in a rogator 1254

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Sorry I don't have the color code in front of me. From my time as a Tech, I do remember the Raven color codes but Ag Chem may have used different colors or numbers on their wires.

This may confuse the issue but on some RoGators that used a 661 originally with a PWM control valve, the PWM control was taken from a pin in the 14 Pin connector rather than the usual INC/DEC pair in the 16 pin connector (Pins 3 & 4).

Pins 3 & 4 are used with the 440/450/460 etc in many or most applications. However the circuitry is not heavy duty enough to run the PWM control valve in some Rogators. So when Ag Chem asked Raven to make a controller that would work in all their machines (the 661), Raven included the INC/DEC pins in the 16 pin connector like all their other controllers BUT also added a high current PWM driver in the 661 by using one of unused pins in the 14 pin connector.

This means with a 661, set to PWM, the PWM signal is available in two places, the usual Pin 3/4 and also a Pin in the 14 pin connector. If you try to run a PWM valve that requires the high current off of the usual Pin 3/4, the circuitry might not be able to handle it. You would want to use the correct pin the the 14 pin connector.

Since the previous owner switched to a Trimble system he might have had to reroute that wire. Supposing this is all true, you might need to reroute it back to its original location to utilize the Heavy Duty Output of the 661 you are going to go back to.

I realize this might not be the case and could be confusing but it is something to keep in mind.

There is a post from yesterday or the day before that gives the pinout for EZ-Boom. The chart for the 16 pin connector would be consistent with what you need. The pins in the 14 pin connector are mostly the same but not 100%.

Do a search on EZ Boom to find the discussion about EZ-Boom. The drawing is from Artic which I can't seem to link to. Sine EZ-Boom does NOT use Pin 7 of the 14 Pin connector, Pin 7 maybe the High Current PWM, I am referring to. Of course if your Rogator is using a PWM control valve you will need to set Control to PWM.
