If it is a '97 or newer, it will have the 8.1 engine, updated trans.,and should have the little electronic quirks worked out of them, because that was about the only thing that was a problem with these tractors. An occasional a/c blower motor goes out, very few injector/injector pump problems on that hour tractor. I have been told by JD tech's that those are 15k hour engines and 20k hour transmissions when serviced properly. The '97 00 series through the 10 series were probably the best tractors JD has ever built, very dependable trouble free tractors. We have had 20+ of these series and have never put an engine or transmission in any of these. The biggest problems were the injector pumps after about 7k hours and not on all of them either and a lot of pump problems anymore are because of the crappy diesel we have nowdays.
