Trying to wake animals to get them to eat, stupid idea, etc. Why in the world would you try that sadistic method. I can't believe anyone would be so stupid, this gives farming and ranching a bad name.

I haven't been around many poultry houses, but I understand this is industry practice. It's no different than doing frequent feed pushups in a freestall barn to encourage the cows eat more. They hear the sound of the pushup tractor, and come looking for fresh feed.
