Subject: RE: Berberine: Liver and Metabolic Health

I am a bit concerned with the talk of berberine.
I am a type 2 diabetic, that had NAFLD which as turned into cirrhosis.
so I am on a regular vist with with endocrinology, hepatology and neurology at a place about 125 miles north of you.
Endocrinology does not want me to take bererine with my metformin ER, since they are simular and I am on max dosage. I'm also on basaglar and trulicity.
Hepatology also does not like berberine, and the mixture you are taking, they really don't like the milk thissle.
They also want everyone to know, that liver disease is far more common than you may think. If you are a type II you need to be checked.....
for years, no one even brought up liver disease.....I was told I had gilberts, due to elevated bilirubin and decreased platelets....add those two together, you
have good odds.
If you have type II diabetes, have your doctor caculate your fib 4 score. if you have an annual cbc and cmp done, it just takes some of the lab values and plugs into a formula, and will tell you how much at risk you are. If the fib 4 and nafld score is high, you need to DEMAND a Fibroscan done, but problem is, that is not a very common machine in many areas.
but do this now, if you wait and the medical personal over look (which is common) you can be in my situation, that some point in time you will need a transplant...
If you catch it soon, things can be done.
