Subject: Mazda's $100,000,000 writeoff cars

A couple of years ago a trans-Pacific cargo ship with thousands of Mazdas -- mostly the small economy type.. tipped over in shallow water off the B.C. coast. A few were wrecked, but most all of them held fast chained down at a 90 deg. angle for over a month before the ship was salvaged. Then Mazda and the insurance co. had to decide what to do with all those cars just because they where sitting with the oil drained away from a few parts while sitting. They considered selling them, full warranty at a steep discount, and displaying all of the affected VIN#'s on a website so any new or subsequent used buyer of the cars would know what they got into. In they end Mazda decided to junk all of them ( I'm sure that a few employees of the scrap contractors are driving around untagged cars in the yard. )

Remember the old show "The Fall Guy?" . There was an episode were the movie company got half a dozen new cars from a damaged ship really cheap to use as expendable stunt cars. Things got tense at the company when the unlicensed cars got involved in an unauthorized car chase on public roads. They just happened to be Mazda RX-7s.
