Dayton, IA | I bought an older one on an auction this winter. Always wanted to try one. Made a really chunky mess in most areas I ran it. I ran some trials in 5 different fields this spring. I will have some yield data this fall but actually tried to move the planter off the strips where I could because it was just too chunky. The chunks dried out and even after a rain it would have been hard to get good seed to soil contact. I have one field where I have passes with the dawn, passes with my hiniker shank bar and no-till so will be interesting to see how the yield turns out. Once I get some time I was going to try to talk to some people at dawn and other farmers I know that have them and see if there is something I need to change, but for my first experience it really messed up the areas I ran it. | |
