If you don't have rocks get a shank machine. If you're in an area with more rocks the dawn will get the job done. I ran a shank machine for one year and realized I didn't like picking rocks that much and then got a Dawn. Shank machine makes a better strip. I try to get strips made in the fall but some years doesn't all get done. Dawn is flexible as you can run in the spring too. I have used it in spring to freshen fall strips and it does work for that but I don't think I would plan to run it spring and fall on every acre as I feel it does too much tillage and blows out too much dirt on the freshening pass. Something designed for strip freshening would be better if you plan on doing alot but yes it can work in a pinch for that. I prefer to run a VT in spring on ground that didn't get fall strips done.
