central mo | Same thing here ...
A friend of mine worked for CROWN Power (Case dealer) and was the guy who delivered rental equipment wherever needed. He had a small track loader on a low boy and the trailer got high centered on the tracks. One minutes later a train rounded the corner and T-boned the low boy. It completely broke the kneck of the low boy off spinning the truck around and moving it about 40 feet ... the other end of the trailer ended up on the other side of the tracks all mangled with a huge bow in it. AS for the track loader, its chains busted so it slid off the trailer and I think got hit by one of the train cars because it was missing one track, was all messed up cosmetically. I remember it looked like King Kong reached in, grabbed the motor and tossed it about 200 feet ... It was found completely off by itself in the trees. Needless to say, my buddy's nickname now is train wreck! LOL
He was not hurt but both engines hooked to the train were derailed as well as about 15 cars. The train engineers were fine I think but in my opinion they had about a mile of notice before they collided with the low boy. How they didn't get that thing geared down and stopped or at least slowed considerably I do not know.
That train had Toyota cars on it as well and if my understanding was correct, EVERY vehicle on that train was destroyed no matter if it was on a damaged train car or not.
