West Central IA
This was my first spring with 16 row true speed 4905. Overall really like the planter. Had a bad unit harness and 2 bad load links right away. I also had “seed meter reset” intermittently. So did a buddy with an ag leader converted planter. Will be interesting to see how bad the gaps are. Or the wise did a great job planting.
Yes the pto pump is a pain and whoever at pump doctor designed the bracket system sure didn’t have to put it in and take it off very many times or I set they would have rethought that. But I couldn’t run that planter off an 8220 otherwise.
I don’t know what there is to love that much about the blue vantage. So slow to turn on, can’t see any field info unless the pto is on, can’t see average population and singulation at the same time, small screen for the bulky overall size it is. Can’t set pop rages custom enough to get rid of streaks. They made some slight improvements in next years firmware but nothing that special.
I have a preproduction 5700 to plant some beans with and they did make some improvements, be nice to lose some zerks since mine has 100 daily. A lot more plastic doesn’t excite me though.
