My father in law no longer wants to plant his own, why would he want to go custom plant for somebody else? He has a planter sitting in the shed in good condition that hasn't moved this year. Somebody he trusts wants to rent it to plant a small number of acres. There really isn't much more to go wrong on a Kinze 3500 than a JD 7000 - it's mechanical drive, no precision anything. Just chains, tires, and bearings. Yes, he may very well trade the planter rent for labor, but he still needs to put a value on it. I doubt if this young guy wants someone else planting his crop for him anyway. I don't know if his planter is broke down, or if he's just looking to plant 15" beans, but regardless it's not my call - I was just asked what I thought a fair value was. | |
