Pesotum, IL | 56-1/2 on 620 here and not sure I’d want more in most scenarios. 9 mph seems to work the best. I’m not sold on truset on the field cultivators. Seems we are having to relevel them all the time. I’m not sure if it’s the cultivator coming out of the ground when it’s hard or the truset getting out of whack. Love truset on the chisel and VT and I love the concept of being able to adjust depth on the go when needed. Just not sure it doesn’t cause more issues than it resolves. Would love to run one next to same size machine with mechanical depth control.
One thing I’ve noticed over the last few years on the Deere cultivator is it has a hard time taking out wheel tracks in mellow ground without having to run entirely too deep and bringing up clods. I have not run a red one that size to compare to so it may be the same story. But it seems like it’s having trouble taking its own tracks out more so than tractor tire tracks. In the right conditions it does an excellent job but in less than ideal conditions I haven’t found the magic bullet yet.
Not sure if you’re using a high speed planter or not but they will definitely find any shortcomings in tillage practices. Can make the difference in running 9-10 mph or 7. Adds up to a lot of acres per day.
