Subject: RE: Polaris ranger or a Honda pioneer side by side

NC KS
The Mules are very good. My only complaint is top speed. I don't need to run 65 mph but sure like to run 45-50 without engine wrapped out.

Had a Ranger 800. It was fairly reliable. Went to a Pioneer 1000 but haven't had it long enough to judge reliability. I like it more than the Ranger but there are a few differences. Belt drive machines are smooth. Honda shifts like a powershift tractor but automatically always on the downshift. Can shift up manually or down manually but if you don't shift down, it will. Can be some snappy shifts. Launched my dog out the side when it had to slow down for a ditch that was rougher than I thought. He handled my braking but the downshift got him. No injuries and he rides in road hunt position ready to bulldog any moving object. Manual shift should be nice when spraying weeds.

Shifter is gated so takes a little wiggling to get back and forth. No hand brake, just park position on shifter.

If considering a cab, hard to beat the Rangers. Honda is very limited there.

I prefer Honda but some others would go for Ranger for the reasons above. Wife uses Mule FXT. Very good to haul kids or grandkids and monsterous bed to haul stuff in.
