The NWS forecast 2.00” for us.. so far the weather station says 0.19”.. it’s still kind of drizzling.. and my radar estimates are as high as 0.40” but still.. that only gets us to the weekend.
As I stated below.. Kansas is probably on track for it’s first below 200 million bu wheat crop in almost 60 years.
Acreage to my south is being released at below 5 bu per acre..we’ve had some more moisture here but I stopped by the local insurance agent.. so far 17 claims turned it.. we have to decide before the wheat heads out if we are going to try to ghost a second crop in.
many are turning cattle back out or considering baling or chopping.. this may be the smallest crop of my life. The elevator station manager guesses.. wheat yields around 3 bushel.
The Kansas non Wheat tour starts May 15th.. it won’t take long as many fields don’t have a stand to count.
I get that we’re a drop in the bucket on the world stage.. but the funds don’t have a prayer of covering their shorts.. there will be very little left for the mills as retaining seed wheat will take priority. Not to mention exports.
