Southern Lower Michigan | My opinion is, one that is adjustable. I have an Aeroquip 1380. Most use a plate which gives the die a specific amount of crimp, for that die, and plate combination. Which corresponds to a certain hose, and fitting combination.. Usually the same hose, and fittings, as the machine manufacturer.
Mine does not use a plate. So I can vary the amount of crimp, over a range for every die. So all I need to know, is the crimp specs, for the hose, and fitting combination, I am using. There are others out there that are adjustable besides the Aeroquip. I can't remember then right now.
