started to favor a second site. That says nothing about milk marketing and what kind of supply contracts a very large dairy can command, which IMO is what’s really driving these especially large dairies.



I think manure handling has gotten a lot more efficient what with drag lines and such. Lots of center pivots in the area around the dairy, can you run liquid manure thru pivots?



Yes, if the solids are removed well enough. Works for both large and small dairies.

Manure spreading methods aren’t the issue, it’s the distance you must go to not overapply manure from many thousands of cows.
