SW Wisconsin | There's a million things that can destroy a farm, and from a public policy perspective farms are destroyed one farm at a time. Whether you're looking at private risk or public food supply, more and smaller farms will be better than fewer and bigger farms all day long if you're looking at anything longer range than this week's grocery bill. On a personal level I'm baffled by why anyone would want to own a farm that big: if you've got the management talent to run that kind of business there are any number of industries that have much better ROI. If you want to get your hands dirty farming there's no better life, in my opinion, but a farm that big the owner's time will all be taken up with business management decisions. | |
