Sorry but I just laugh at how people claim they know what they are going to do. Let’s discuss the facts, last year spring price was 5.90 vs 5.91 this year. Last year cz22 made a high of 7.662 on 5-16 and was still trading in the 7.20s in late May. I’m pretty damn dumb but I’ll go on a limb and guess that the price at the time of the decision is going to have a hell of a lot to do with the decision. $5.70 isn’t going to get anyone all excited to plant a late crop vs pp on 85% insurance. $552/ac on a 200 aph
After talking with a close friend in Southern MN about PP probability, I’m with you and your reasoning. CME will need to dangle a significant carrot spiffy above and beyond the $5.91 insurance guarantee to get folks revvvd up to plant corn after June up there. Middle MN is a far cry from historical frosts that central/southern IL and IN faced in 2019. 40-40-40 comes to mind if the “right” fall weather hits early. Take the $$ and run.
“it’ll be just business taking PP”…….
