| Most order buyers can tell if a calf has simm influence regardless of color. Usually that extra hide under the jaw is a giveaway. Certain weights hide different breeding better than others. Sim can get slipped in if they’re a little fleshy at 7-8 weights, under that the head/extra skin gives it away. Longhorns you better get them gone before the legs start outgrowing the body. Usually 4-5 weights depending on feed availability. You’ll probably only get away with this once before you get a reputation for it.
To the OPs question, I put sim bulls on char cows and like the calves that come off around 700~. Never tried it the other way with straight sim cows. Most dams would have 1/2sim 1/2angus genetics with a char bull thrown on. I’ve never had a buyer comment or pull one off from their pen mates who had f1 baldy dams. | |
