southern MN | Wrote off a portion of mine back when I used it.
My Polaris is I believe 100% farm use. While I enjoy scouting the fields more the past year, I'm still driving the field roads to look at the crops with it,s o that is accurate. My wife did give her neices & nephews one joy ride, so I suppose I should back off 1%....
You are writing off your computer as well, and internet expense? You are researching farming here.
Don't cheat, but if you use something for farming in any way, that portion of the expenses should be run through your farm taxes.
A good CPA familiar with farm tax issues is worth more than he costs to most any farmer - even a small outfit like mine. I'd never tackle taxes on my own, while I could figure out how to fill it out, I would miss the bigger picture & what I can do over the long haul to plan & work within the tax code to make my bill smaller.
