N FLA | Stella and I bought 4 thin cows in 2012. They had a good run, but 3 of them died last year. The last one was raising a calf last year, and she looked a little tough. I mouthed her when she weaned her calf, and she had all her teeth, so I kept her. This winter she looks like walking death. I really found it odd that they all just kind of died after a really good 10 year run. I never even got to haul one to the sale barn. I guess I thought I'd have a chance to sell them, but they just went downhill so fast they were hardly worth a trip to the market. I guess that is old age, but I'm not sure.
This last one I have tried to keep up the safeguard but it just doesn't seem to make much difference. | |
