You need to get rid of the residue. Wheat doesn’t like being buried in leaves and stalks.
If you truely want to stay notill, bake some off. Otherwise vertical till with blades rust have some angle to pin the residue down or lightly disc.
Its one of those situations where you can’t have your cake and eat it too

I like it this way better. He said bake and cake, I'm hungry. I can also invision a big black plume of smoke from the bake also. Nothing spoiled there.
