Setting the depth correctly on the drill is important. With our 1590 Planting in stalks, We adjust depth so that when are gauge wheel is running over the heaviest residual. We still get the seed in ground 7/8 to 1". That would then mean when that gauge wheel would find bare ground it would plant 2"+..
