SE MN | Did some BMR Sorghum-Sudangrass for the first time last year, baled and wrapped in SE MN; got 3 cuttings. This year we are going as others have suggested and planted winter rye to take off in the spring and going to do SS again. We are also going to plant some of a dwarf variety and are going to plant more of it as cows seem to like it and we had decent luck the first year. We see reduced seed, chemical and fertilizer inputs over corn silage but do wish I have gotten a little better tonnage and hopefully will do better this year with the addition of winter rye. | |
