Subject: Lump jaw from feeding bearded triticale hay.

Southeast Colorado
So I ended up feeding my cows a lot longer this winter than I had originally planned. I was hoping to just use this trit hay for storm feeding..............but they've been living on it pretty much for a couple of months.

Now I'm gradually seeing lumps show up on a few cows. I've heard of this before but never had to deal with it.

If I just get them moved to better pasture..........or different hay, will they get over it? Or do I need to get them to a vet, or at least in my chute and deal with it??

I'd probably take a couple to the vet first and try to learn how to proceed with any others that may need help. Really I'm just hoping that if I change feed sources the problem will go away. That's probably wishful thinking.
