Average quarter section pivot is 1310 feet long. With end gun will cover approximately 133 acres. Most wells will pump 600 gpm plus to make it worth while. I have no idea how deep the wells are in the Atkinson area, however in my area, wells to the south of me are 400+ feet deep. Talked to a fellow this morning and he received a bid of $135,000 to put in a 435 foot deep well. Add the engine and pivot and you’re looking at the area of a quarter million dollars. Then $4 plus diesel and it takes some good corn prices to make it pay anymore.
