On our 4230 we eliminated the right hand battery and just run one 12v.  Cranks it great and only one cheaper battery to maintain.  Ours is an open station that just runs an auger so no electronics to worry with.  If I were you I'd probably put two 12v on and redo the cables to make it work, then put a simple plug in the cab on both tractors so it's quick and easy.
