Currently, the only option is to use a 700. There is a connector in the cab to install a 700. As far as I know there are no plans to build software for the 1200 series planters. After I said that, the next update for the 1200 will have 12XX planter software in it. Not likely!
You need the 1200 in the tractor to run most of the tractor functions.
