Subject: RE: Weight loss/diet help

I have tried cream, but I find that, for some reason, it can upset my digestive system if I get a bit too much. The milk I now use is reduced lactose milk, and it seems fine. As I said too, I often drink a glass of it on ice in the evenings to satisfy the obsessive/compulsive tendencies that seem to hit at that time. It is very satisfying, and does not seem to produce the spike either. Since I've switched to the lactose reduced milk, I haven't experienced any problems. I can see where it might be "satisfying" my body due to including the carbs, however.

I agree on people and joint pains and sugar. The change seems to be quite amazing to me. It is interesting - when eating oatmeal with sugar and eliminating the sugar - how the cravings are so insistent for the missing sugar. With a small bowl of the oatmeal without sugar, for awhile all I could eat was a part of the small serving. It tasted like crap - even with the equal volume of walnuts in it. If I put in a modest amount of sugar, my body was happy - short term, at least. I could easily eat two or three times as much of the oatmeal/walnut mix. Now, however, I don't need the sugar, and it at least does not taste bad at all. (Note - the oatmeal keeps my system regular.).

As I say, I'm not too worried about weight - or other serious problems. For now, this is a comfortable diet (for an old man - G). If I need to go low-carb, I really think that half of the battle is won by weaning myself off of sugar. It was an interesting study - how my body reacted to the withdrawal of sugar.
