| I been in situations similar to you.
I'm close to Findlay, and had same result on help from Werk Brau.... I been disappointed the past 2 times I have called there, customer treatment and knowledge....I think they do still make and build good products, just....????
they aint what they used to be, like when they were in town.
What I did on some backhoe buckets and loader buckets is turned down cold rolled DOM ( drawn over mandrel ) tubing. in my lathe to the dimensions needed.
I use Alro steel and Benjamin Steel to get my DOM tubing....its a little pricey, but you can make a few sets ahead for future just as easy, while you are making the 1st set.
If you use your excavator a LOT, then you can have them heat treated for hardness, ask around some machine shops in your area, I would think the Cleveland, Akron-Canton or Youngstown area should have a few around.
Do a Google search for flame hardening services for your area.
I did not have any hardened in my situation, but the wear is more than acceptable for my customer and my own equipment ( which is ag and light construction ) I have done in the past.
Its hard to say on your existing bushings, I have seen them press fit and some were welded, I usually plasma or torch them out, but do my hardest not to get into the outer bore, unless its REALLY bad, then you are looking at line boring.
ITs not uncommon to have to polish the new bushings a little bit, if made to tight tolerances, or if the alignment is not dead nuts perfect or....if the bucket has been tweaked, to get the pins to slide nice and true. Welding may pull or distort them a little too.
