For only 4,000 acres a year, a nice 4730 would do you great. But if you want to spend more, the I would go to the R series. I would skip the 4830 if possible "Only" 4000 acres? An acre must be smaller where you are than here. Not sure were you are going with that. We average 60,000 acres a year with our sprayer. I'm a big proponent of self propelled sprayers as anybody but at only 4,000 acres a year seems like it would be hard to justify a newer SP sprayer. But that's not what the OP asked. Just which one was better. Was going with I thought he had 4000 acres. 4000 x 3 is enough a pretty good sprayer to me. Of course it's nothing like your 60,000. That to me is a lot of spraying. What do you have? Maybe 7 usable months to spray? What is that? About 300/day 7 days a week? And yes, I did vary from the original question.
We start spraying in April and go all the way until the snow flies or gets too cold which normally means October. Current sprayer is a JD 616R which as the 1,600 gal tank and 133ft boom. We do 1,200 to 1,500 acres a day during the peak of the spraying season. We are setup with 2 mobile tankers we move around, one 10,000 gal and the other 8,400 gal. Also have one stationary tanker and 35,000 gal of storage at the main farm. | |
