Subject: soil temperature comparisons

Clark SD

Did a few changes at the location where i was reporting the spring wheat progress. The wheat was heading out on my last visit to the site on 6/28.
On 6/21 i scraped the residue away in a 3ft square area. In that area i have a sensor 2 inches deep plus one on the soil surface.
I also have a sensor 2 inches deep in laid over rye residue plus one sensor on the soil surface over the rye.
Then there is a sensor 2 inches deep under a light cover of soybean residue.

chart legend
at: air temperature 5.5 ft above ground
2" bs: 2 inch soil temperature 3ft x 3ft bare soil
2" lor: 2 inch soil temperature laid over rye
2" sbr: 2 inch light soybean residue cover
