Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463
Wedesday I was in Illinois for the Calmer Narrow Row Corn Clinic. A neighboring farmer is interested in trying 20" or maybe 15" corn.

On the way home we stopped at the Kinze Innovation Center, exit 216 of I-80, Williamsburg, Iowa.

The Innovation Center just opened last week, and I believe this week was the first it that it was opened to the public. A new large building, located close to the grain cart stack, west of the planter up in the air.

Many things from the early days of Kinze. Also displays of their present products.
The building is also used for dealer meetings. A large area with lots of space for machinery in that room.

In the photos below are three items I really was glad to see.
Big Blue, the big 4x4 tractor Jon Kinzenbaw built to show the big plows.

The first Kinze grain cart built.

And the Farmall H tractor that was the big tractor on the farm when Jon Kinzenbaw was growing up.
The story of looking for and finding this H is very interesting.

Very glad I stopped, hope to return when I can stay more than a hour.

Open Monday thru friday 9 to 4, No admission charge.

North Central Iowa
I was just there on Tuesday and thought it was really nice. Really liked the video that you watch when you go into the museum.

I was part of the first farmer group to take the museum tour and also the plant tour. I must tell you that Kinze did a first class job setting it up. I would also like to say I like the fact that your products are American made and your plant seems well laid out and quality driven. Your Dad is a cool dude!

Central, MN

I'm going on an Inspection Trip with my school (SDSU) towards the end of March. Kinze is one of the places on the list and I am very excited. Once I found out we were heading that direction I called my great uncle who lives near Des Moines to see if he could think of any other places to visit while down in that area. He couldn't come up with much more than we had planned for already, but did say Knize will be great. He said Jon Kinzenbaw is a wonderful person who has met personally a few times. He also recalled Jon buying an F-20 Farmall from him a little ways back. He said "its been awhile and he probably won't remember me, but he has a good thing going over there." I can't wait to get down there in March!

Thanks for the pictures, Bobby.  As usual, we count on you for showing us things to be seen.

The best Kinzie experience is talking to Jon himself, a wealth of experience in that man.  My favorite part of the last Rantoul antique show was visiting with him in person.  The guy who went with me visited his Grandmother in Iowa every summer as a young boy.  Friend had met Jon, but only a few times.  His cousin knew Jon from 4-H during the early years.  Jon remembered the cousin, said all the other 4-H'rs were busy with their livestock, and wondered why he was always by himself in the farm shop.  He humbly stated that perhaps time spent in the shop might have been more valuable, as proven by the future.

Granto the Mag of Lake Wobegon and County Ditch #18c

No tobackie on the Kinze grounds! I left the pipe at the Kum & Go.

They really got a good rain at exit 216 yesterday. More than here Just North of Lapland.

Granto, is it going to be a 2" or 3" rockbox on the 855?

Also Granto the Mag, You should be worried about the declining number of moose in the Land of Sky Blue Waters, not my pipe smoking.
I think you killed off the Hamms bear, now you are after the moose.

Chebanse, IL.....

Bobby

Thanks for photos & narrative.

Here's "Big Blue" in action @ the 2011 "Half Century of Progress". Driven by the owner himself!

Here's a YouTube slideshow by me from same Half-Century show. Mr & Ms Kinze are in it a couple times. It's long though...20 min+. But, the music can be enjoyable also.
