Subject: Our new JD 7230R arrived

Woodham, Ontario

Our new tractor finally arrived! Was supposed to show up in early september, but the factory got behind on IVT 7R tractors. We used a 8260R and later a 7930 to do corn silage. We still have some cobmeal to harvest and lots of manure to haul.

This tractor was ordered with the 50km/h, 32MPH transmission for pulling dumptrailers and the new manuretank. It will also pull a 16 row planter in the spring. It has IF800/70R38 tires on the back and IF600/65R30 tires on the front, no duals. The large single tires are a lot nicer on the road because the tractor is narrower and they provide a lot of flotation in the field. It has a front hitch, but no front PTO, we can add one if we want to retire the 7930.

Not a great picture because the focus is wrong, but you can see the cab suspension cylinders.

Handy steps to get to the window, mirrors and GPS receiver.

front suspension and fender stops. Looks complicated, but it is pretty simple, the bracket turns the front fender when it gets close to the frame without hitting the frame.

front hitch folded down. Took off the toplink for now.

2630 with SF2 for autotrac and planter, regular commandcenter runs the tractor.

The main section of the hood folds up. one latch holds the front side panel and 2 latches hold the rear side panel, they come off really easy. They are there to direct airflow, but it looks very clean too.

What is the black plastic that runs up the cab post above the fuel tank? cab air intake or something like that?

Gerard, I just priced that tractor last week, I'm glad there was a chair behind me, did u buy straight or trade, I'm curious as to what you paid for it? My friend down the road ordered same one and his was a fair bit cheaper. My magnum 275 with front hitch/pto, duals all around was well under 200. let me know, email is in profile

Thanks for posting. The accessory location and drive is interesting. I'm surprised the guidance monitor isn't integrated into the tractor monitor like the 8R. Or can you order them either way? -Mike

Hmmm, wonder what ten years of bouncing across the field will do to all those integrated electronics...
It sure is purty though...

You can order them both ways, I ordered it with the 2630 because our planter will have seedstarXP, rowcommand, variable rate and variable rate fert and swath control. This way I will be able to use the Starfire3000 and 2630 with SF2 on the 7930 too during the summer. The ITC and 2600 I have already are only SF1.

Very nice. I could sure use one just like it but it'll be a couple of years off.

Gerard - How much does that tractor weigh and what kind of air pressure do you need to run in those tires?

How did you end up configuring dry fert. into a new planter?

Can run upto 19000lbs on the rear axle @ 12 PSI and 12000lbs in the front. Have not weighed the tractor yet, but the manual suggests the tractor weighs around 20,000lbs total. For planting I could probably run 10 psi all around which should cause no ill effects on the soil at all. The tractor manual doesn't go below 12 PSI though, probably to prevent rim slip.

Dry fert is obviously not factory, but with the help from the dealer we'll make something look and work like it should. Planning to pull a 1910 cart behind thew 1770NT CCS with Aulari boots on Deere single disc openers. Planter and cart should show up this winter and there will be pics. You can come look at it if you like once it's together.
