Subject: Raven Phoenix 300 and RTK?

Great Southern, Western Australia
Probably a dumb question, but what is required to get a Phoenix 300 onto RTK apart from the unlock code (and a base station)? Does it have a radio built into the antenna?

Is anybody using the Phoenix 300 with a CORS RTK other than with Slingshot?

Altenatively, is anybody supplying their Viper Pro with an RTK signal from a non-raven receiver?

You will need a radio that is compatible with the one on the base.

So, I would replace the antenna with one that contained a radio? Or would a radio plug into the receiver in the cab? I know this might seem obvious but you don't know until you ask

you can supply an rtk signal from a trimble rtk base, simply by using a 262 receiver an joey radio. it works reall well.

If you are going to use radio, the radio feeds correction into the P300 receiver. You will have a radio antenna and the current GPS antenna. The radio needs to be the same type as the base is using.

You can unlock the P-300 to RTK and use the antenna that came with it for cors. Instead of slingshot, you can use gnss internet radio or Lance Lefebure's Ntrip client running on a small laptop to access your cors network and input the corrections data to the P-300.  Raven's website has setup info and online manuals for the 300.

Hey Delles 99,, Can you post the settings you are using in both the 262 and the viper pro? i can make that setup work fine on waas, but as soon as i add the radio and rtk it has problems.

you need cable ztn55224. you then pull your nmea from port C. GGA,VTG 10hz zda1Hz. change nmea 1 to ASAP.
Plug the 55224 into your smartrax. it needs a baud rate between 19200 and 115200 depending if your using the old style smarttrax or the newer 3D node.

Thanks guys. So just to confirm, if I use a base station I need an additional radio as well as my existing P-300 antenna? Ans as long as the radio and the base are compatible that is all that matters? Where would the radio plug in - to the Smartrax?

The radio sends correction into the P300. The P300 sends signal into you Smartrax. The radio does not hook into your Smartrax.

Thanks. I thought about that a while after I posted it and realised that was probably the case. I have to say, contemplating moving from Omnistar HP to RTK across different brands becomes very complicated with all the different options. With HP it was easy, nearly everything can do it. Anybody heard of the Omnistar CORS.HP service? Anybody using it?
