Subject: 1) Leica Mojo RTK Versatile 976 Install pics

Winkler, Manitoba Canada
Another cold rainy day so it is time to get this documented. Purchased a couple of Mojo units on a dealer closeout. Rationale: price was right, two units allow us to test components by substitution, never thought there was much point to autosteer that would almost drive where you want it to, thought that Leica might be somewhat supportive of attempting unsupported installs, and I like technical challenges that have positive results. Thanks to gpsdude and Pat H for their comments in regards to the system both here and in email. Leica technical support was somewhat helpful but not encouraging as they are geared towards supporting dealers. They did go to some length to provide answers to very direct questions but would not provide any advice. Online technical support from many companies was accessed to come up with our final solutions. Google was our friend! Thanks to my son Eric for the pictures and a lot of the install work. In testing the unit seems to steer the tractor very nicely. Hopefully in the next few days we will be able to try it in the field.

Pic 2) unit mounted on dash in homemade protective box
Pic 3) autosteer engage switch mounted in console, adjustable steering overide sensitivity knob just above and to the right of the engage switch - this is not Leica supported or suppplied
Pic 4) Leica supplied Sauer Danfoss steering controller at the right side of the battery box
Pic 5) steering position senser mounted in the pivot of the 976
Pic 6) open center Raven steering valve, not visible is the Leica supplied hydraulic pressure transducer to provide steering overide kickout

Is the Raven valve a proportional steering valve? What does the steering controller do? I assume it just provides a communication interface between the receiver and the steering valve? Thanks.

Raven valve is proportional. From the Leica info: "The Steer Ready Controller is the component which, in simple terms, acts as a relay between the Wheel Angle Sensor, the Hydraulic Steering Control Valve and the mojoRTK console. Its function is to deliver the relative data to the individual components, providing a simplified central point, for complex data processing." The steering overide hydraulic pressure transducer is also connected the controller.

Central Minnesota

Did you have to get special software for the 4 wheel drive and the raven valve from Leica or able to use what was in the Mojo?

I put a system kinda like that in a NH9020 this spring which is not entirely supported by Mojo but made it work real well after a few installation mods. The hardest being finding a good place to mount the wheel angle sensor so that it would operate properly with out damage.  In my case I would say that Leica was very supportive but you have to get the right person that knows all the answers on the line and I guess I know his extension.

We are using standard software.

Looks like you did a great job. I'd be interested in hearing an update once you get a chance to test it. Thanks for posting.
