Edson, Alberta, Canada | Long story short I bought this old JD disc for a song a few years ago. I do some custom work for acreage owners so have kept it around and it has worked fine. I have tried to Google it and identify the model number without much success. It would be cool to find an old owners manual but I need the model number to get the correct one. The closest I can find on line is the link below.

Eastern ND | Correct. BWF is a manually folded disk. A is non- folding. |

wahpeton, nd | First machine I owned was a new BWA like that except mine was a 17'10" with folding wings. The BW was an older model that had a different location for the leveling spring on the hitch. The BWF was built to allow the disk gangs to flex some in rocks and also came in larger sizes. I liked that disk back in those days for working down sunflower stocks. not the best at cutiing, but in the right conditions it did a good job. The new disks that Frontier has resemble the BWA.
I see that one has them cone blades. not one of JDs better ideas.

wahpeton, nd | That TWA was a much heavier disk. 16' was largest. 24" blades. run one of them a lot for a neighbor back in highschool days. nice load on the old 5010s and 20s |

Maybe I misunderstand you. But, I'm sure we had a manual fold BWA. I realize the disk of discussion is not folding, but ours was. I think I still have the OM. Will dig it out if necessary. |

Brazilton KS | BWA is solid standards, BWF is cushion standards. I am not sure how they cushioned back then. I have not found any distiction for fold vs non-fold, other then width. |

Edson, Alberta, Canada | Thanks for the help guys. I Googled my brains out trying to find a model number without any luck. Now if I can hunt down an old Owners Manual I'll be smiling. I'm just kind of anal about wanting owners manuals for all of my equipment, old or new.

| If you have a parts man at the local JD dealer with some patience (and time), you can find it this way:
Find EVERY piece on the machine with a casting number (spools, bumper washers, gang holders, tongue, leveling pieces, etc.). Make a list with every number. The parts man can enter each one into the "where used" section in his parts computer. Each time he will get a list of every machine that used that particular part #. By using the process of elimination, he will eventually find just a couple of models (only one if you're REALLY lucky), that used all of them.
THEN, look at the picture (id view) screen on the gathered models until you find the one that looks the closest to what you have. Viola', now you know which disc yours is, and can order the requisite manuals. If you DON'T have someone at your local dealer willing to do this for you, email the list and a couple of pictures of it to me (email's in my profile), and I will research it for you in my spare time. Beware though, I may want a whitetail deer hunting trip in exchange :).
