North Florida | Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this and what kind of results did you have. Thanks Ernest

Blvd d'Espair Bowhill, Sth Aust | A. I've never used a rope wick applicator B. I have no experience of peanuts C. I dont know what pigweed is. But since Gramoxone is a contact herbicide and for the most part not translocated, thorough coverage of the target is essential. From what i understand about Rope wick applicators, that is an unlikely outcome. I'd be brave ( or foolish ) enough to predict failure.

rope wicks need a chemical that is translocated in the plant. a contact chemical just wont get enough coverage. You might try some clarity or 2,4-d B Brad

Caraway, AR | Clarity is doing a good job in the wicks around here. Clarity and water at 3/1 ratio. Thats 3 clarity. John Edit: Let me clarify.........this is being used in cotton and soys, not in peanuts. Sorry Edited by John..neAR 7/25/2010 09:31

Rolla, ND | It won't work, it won't translocate to all the growing points and kill the plant, just going to burn some foliage is all.

N FLA | Ernest, we went up to see Dr. Prostko's research plots in Tifton, and he is working on just that. He of course told us it is an off-label application, but is doing very well with a 40-50% solution of gramoxone. He is seeing better results with a wiper vs. a wick. He is going at them from both directions. They are hoping to get a label for using it in peanut, and he thinks its likely, since gramoxone already has labeled use in peanut. A coworker has the pictures, I will try to get them. One of the agents on the tour said there was one county in Georgia, that almost every acre had this treatment, or something to that effect. Sumner GA, Located in southwest GA, | I promise you, you can lay all the 2,4 DB out you wont, it isn't going to phase pigweed, I think it just encourages it. Not to mention if you want to use 2,4 DB just run it out through a boom.

Did this last year with 75% gramoxone in wick bar and it will kill pigweed. We had the bar wet enough that it had a little drip. We used as much speed as we could so the weed hit the wick hard enough to get as much chemical as possiable on the plant. We did over 500 acre's like this, it will work
