Subject: Pricing a new Hagie Sprayer

I'm considering trading an older STS 12 for a new STS 12. Has anyone bought a new one this year and would you mind giving me an idea of the net cost? I am sorta wondering if the asking price is pretty much the bottom line or how would I make an intelligent offer. The first asking price is in the 225-250,000 range depending on options.

Go with a Nitro 4275. Same clearance and engine hp, but you can get a 1400 or 1600 gallon tank (more return on investment) and the ride is much better.

Here we go again.

You can also get a 1600 gal in a Hagie, and it would be 90 more ponies than the Nitro.  I take it the 275 is the horse?  I think ride is pretty good in all of them anyway unless you are trying to spray pastures.

You need big nurse tanks and 3" plumbing to go with the big sprayer or you don't gain nothing.

least we agree on one thing, front mount boom!  Laughing

Them Nitro turn short don't they!  I would really like to run the all wheel steer Hagie they have out now.

What kind of options on the 12 you looking at?  All wheel steer, 120 ft boom(can you get it?), tires?  I think the 54's was 7 or 8K more right there.  We have 380's and maybe should have went with the 54's and got the 320's instead.  Will see how the 380's do in tall beans, we had 320's on the last sprayers and took down enough beans with them.

I wouldn't say that the ride on the Nitro would be better. I had demoed a Nitro and was very dissapointed with the ride. I also like the boom on the Hagie much better b/c they do not flap around so much while spraying

Isn't the 4 wheel steer option speed limited? Or-can it be adjusted upwards?

as far as iin the field? I would hope not, that would be retarded.I am sure you are two steer only for road travel. no way they would let you run it down the road like that. be kinda scary

NE Kansas
I was told at the factory all wheel steer was 1st gear only. It would be nice but I bet its pricey.

We currantly have 320x50 and would like more tire but they are very pricey and you loose the option of fenders with the bigger tires. We currantly have 90ft booms and with all our terraces I think 100ft would be the max.

Check it out. I think it's 6 mph. How fast are you going when you turn now?

I found out all wheel steer is first gear only.  either 6 or 7 mph.  So for spraying we might not need all wheel steer, I prolly would not buy it for just a sprayer.  So you can spray in second and down shift to first for the endrows and use all steer.

But after running the side dress bar, I can see major advantage in having a all wheel steer machine.  More so in 6 foot tall corn.  Sprayers are made to turn on 90 feet or more.  Our STS 16 with turn on 40 feet but is is full turn right away and a big light bulb turn if you wanted to do 30 foot.

OK...so are they now officially "retarded" @ Hagie? Which of the Hagie personnel would you like to hang that moniker on?

You'd really shift on every end? Or-are you just saying that? I wouldn't shift. I hardly ever use full throttle, but I don't have electric throttle either.

Like I said for just a sprayer I would not buy AWS.

I would get it for a side dress rig if and when we trade.  I would down shift no doubt.  One question is why the AWS could not be limited by speed and not by a gear?  run second gear but any speed above 7 in that gear and it be two wheel.  It may shift down auto when you go that slow anyway, I can't remember.

Not sure on your older rig, but the our STS you can down shift at full hydro.  shift button on the joystick so you would hit the master spray, down shift, and raise the coulters all from the joystick.  Now they have a new joystick I hear again for 2010.   We seemed to settle in on running the side dress at 9.5 to 10 mph so from what I heard we would be running in second gear and need to down shift on the ends.  The STS 10 and 12 may turn better but this 16 would greatly benefit from AWS when running the nitrogen bar.

We are running a field day next month along with Hagie.  Not sure what personnel will be up yet, but we will be going over a few items of concern I have.  More than one down there has my contact info if they want to discuss anything I have said.
