Could you just replace the factory bulbs with  a led bulb in the factory  socket just wanting to improve . from the dim yellow lights and not wanting to spend  $300.I am not that desperate. I have aimed the factory rear lights and they do a pretty good job just a little dark  right in front of the tractor for about 30ft. Has anybody tired it?

I haven't, but I am going to. I believe if your housings and rubber grommets are O.K., then you shouldn't have a problem. I'm with you, I would like better lights, but I don't want to spend a fortune.

Here is a link to a previous thread that discussed this:

I need to add I am not talking about the fender lights  they are fine. I wonder about the light strip in the  front of the hood now its like a dim flashlight  really do not do anything.

You will be spoiled after you see how bright these lights are! Then your fender ones will seem to not do their job and seem dim and yellow! It never ends until you do them all.

Those are the same light bulbs used in a ford crown vic domelight lol, they were purely meant for looks, the 55 series actually put out some light as they were an actual light in a housing.

Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80

I looked into those Rectangular lights, for a 4440 conversion and found 2 different "wattage ratings" ; but I never went that direction (bought a light bar instead, for that tractor).

I see Larsen lights, has those lights at 20 watts each(55 and 60 series) , and it looks like you would need 3 or 4 total. (EDIT: I see there is a special instruction about 50 series, mentioned on the Larsen lights site = Can be used on the 50 series too, but a new front holder for the lights is needed. JD part numbers :)

https://www.larsenlights.com/jd-2-x-5-led-light-20-watt

I, also, see Tiger Lights sells some LEDs, for that tractor front hood, at 30 watts, but just barely higher lumens, that Larsen lights. (seems odd, to me such little different, but 10 more watts advertised)

Hopefully, someone has installed EACH product and can help you, on a review.

2nd edit: here's a link to Larsen Lights conversion for 50 series ($249) LED-3000 {obviously, their must be a difference in those older 50 series nose cone parts}

https://www.larsenlights.com/led-hood-conversion-kit-tl4000

This must be the kit, from Tiger lights ($380) for a 50 series conversion:

NEWI
We added a lightbar above the weight bracket and just put cheap automotive light strips in for effect in the old housing.... still lots cheaper than the kits.
Nothing against the kits..... just dont have the cash to spend.

We changed our 4255 and it helps quite a bit. FYI, the old lights do not care which way the the plug connects, but the led's do. If they don't come on turn the plug around.

I spent the money and did a tiger lights conversion. Well worth it imo.

If you are not picky about keeping it looking factory done, this has served me well for two years on my 4450. Bought the light bar for less than the light kits.

Not that much money. Just replace all the lights on the tractor with LEDS. You'll wonder why you waited so long. I can see better at night than during the day after changing my 4430 over. Doesn't burn up the switch either. Wouldn't worry about the light bar.
