I’m in need to either rebuild my wagons or look into converting them to hydraulic drive. I mainly do front unload but some rear unload. Who sells conversions for this application? Thanks in advance.

Your hydraulic motor rpm is determined by your gals per minute from the hydraulics. Then gear it down to match the desired wagon speed. The motor torque is determined by the displacement of the motor. Buying a motor matched to be a direct drive is probably cost prohibitive but not always.

20 gals/ min on a 8 cu in motor would get you about 570 rpm on the motor.

I used an 8 cu/in motor on our Schuler feed wagon and it works great, I think it would power a big wagon just fine.

I saw a hydraulic driven Roda wagon at the Clay County Fair, years ago. Looked pretty slick. Beaters were hyd also. Both circuits had flow control valves to regulate speed. This was on a 20’ front unload wagon with one side of roof open.

Let us know what you find out. I run a number of 125 wagons to fill upright silos.

Back in the 90's to mid 2000's we used H&S 7+4 20' wagons. We got the hydraulic unload option. Basically you took apart the universal joint and used a roll pin as a drive. The hydraulic motor was direct drive and had a U shaped coupler that mated with the roll pin in the yoke. The motor was on a small frame assembly that had 2 alignment pins and a lever to lock in place. It had speed control on it. Dad would pull wagons with a 77 Chevy full time 4WD truck up to the blower and the hydraulic motor was driven from the blower tractor. With the quick hitches and DMI bumper no one needed to get out of the truck or tractor to connect or switch wagons.

I've done several. The hydraulic motor off a Deere platform works good. Surplus Center sells motors, go with high tuque, low rpm motors. Think I got a 716A hydraulic drive wagon in the shed I could sell..... Dennis
