I was wondering if a AC 200 could pull a 12 row planter. Because I have a ad book for Allis Chalmers tractors and I was looking through it a little while ago. I came across this ad for a allis chalmers 190 XT. It said that it could pull a 20" disc harrow, a 5-6 bottom plow and a 12 row planter. The tractor is rated at 93 hp at the drawbar just like the 200s. Now I know that's allot of planter to be pulling with that tractor. I own AC 200 right now and it's ones one of my favorites. My grandpa own it before he passed away and I bought it off my grandmother about 3 years ago. It need some work when I bought it. but few hundred dollars later and it's running like new again. Mine is a early model of the 200s. I pull a 6-30" row JD 694 na planter with it right now. I have clay flat ground that I'm pulling it in. But I was just wondering if it could be done. Thanks

Might be able to pull it in the field, but depending on the planter how hitch heavy it is when going down the road. My 8182 White 12 row doesn’t pull hard, but it’s heavy on the 3point hitch when folded for road travel.

I do have a whole set of front weights on it too and ballast in the rear tires. I was looking at getting a John Deere 7000 no-till with an end transport

Your rear tires can't be worn out. Duals would always be better. It probably shouldn't be a big heavy Kinze planter with dry fertilizer and no-til coulters.

The planter you mentioned would be no problem in normal conditions. You will get along much better if you have duals. I use about 8 hp per row as a general rule of thumb. Welcome aboard by the way, and learn how to post a couple pics of your 200, especially out in the field. I too, have a 200 I restored. I think the AC turbo 301 is one of the best sounding engines I've ever heard.

My first 12 x 30 planter tractor was a One-Ninety XT. The first couple hundred acres of the first year without duals.
This XT was without a cab, no water in the rear tires. I did have a set of the sectional weights on.
A 200 with the factory cab would be quite a bit heavier. Plus the 200 may have 18.4 x 38 rubber vs 34” on Most XT models.
Pulled it fine. The reason I got a different tractor to plant with, is I wanted a cab.

No not with fertilizer.
Pulled a 8r36 7000 with a 6080 and had occasional issues. Our unballasted 7000 will spin out before a weighed 6080. Uncle has a NH 8870 and has had to use the mfwd a few times pulling a Deere 1760. Neighbor pulled his 1760 with a 4440 or 4450 and went to a 8100 after getting disgusted with the hydraulics.
Pretty sure Rayl plants going downhill only. My 6080 will run with or ahead of buddies 4020 and I would never try a well built 12 row on it.

On the 20 foot disc no atleast a decent disc no.
We have a 22 foot Sunflower and it gives the 8030 a workout. 7060 is a better match 7580 is better yet. Pulled a 18 foot 220 Deere behind the 7000 and it was ok wouldn’t want more and expect good results. I have my grandfather’s D17 and look at it as a big souvenir of my childhood and the memories I had with it and grandpa. That tractor was partially responsible for giving me the love of farming. If it runs auger in a emergency, backs in a occasional wagon and picks a couple loads of ear corn I’m content.

One thing to consider is that planters from that era were considerably less heavily loaded with stuff and a lot lighter. I would think you would want duals for sure. 200s have a lot of torque and will outpull there weight. We still have the one my Dad bought new in 1975, we replaced the original motor with an intercooled 7020 motor in 1985. We have gone through a couple of clutches since. Still my favorite tractor.

A 2200 kinze, 1760 Deere, or the white equivalent yes. 3600 kinze, 1770 deere, no. I've made a couple rounds with my 185 pulling a 1760 to check chains and make sure everything was turning, in worked dirt it pulled it fine, if it wasn't a vac I'd be tempted to plant with it all the time.

A neighbor in sandy loam ground has a JD 7200 front fold 12r30 pulling with a JD 4240 with duals-2WD. He has done this since it was new in 1993 but its a finger planter. Just the planter -no tanks either dry or liquid.

My tractor does have a cab and duals for it to. I think the JD 7000 is going to be a good planter for me. Would my 200 pull it with Liquid Fertilizer ?

Many years ago a neighbor pulled a 12 row JD with a 4030 JD that had no cab and no duals..It was a load and I saw him stuck more than once but he always got it done..
